About Ferngrove Wire
A local news and podcast publication filing dispatches for Calgary and southern Alberta, and selling the advertising placements that fund them.
Who we are
Ferngrove Wire started as a small weekly news brief for the Beltline and grew into a full local publication, pairing written dispatches with a regular audio series. The title is built around the wire-service idea: short, dated, dependable filings rather than a stream of unrelated posts.
We are operating as NU Media Edge Inc., the company that publishes Ferngrove Wire and handles the advertising bookings, invoicing and contracts described on this site.
Our focus stays deliberately close to home: Calgary neighbourhoods and the towns of the southern Alberta foothills, rather than provincial or national news already well covered elsewhere.
What we do
Alongside our news coverage and podcast, we sell three advertising formats to local businesses and organizations. Full detail is on the advertising page; in short:
A 30-day directory listing for local businesses and groups.
A labelled explainer article written with your input.
Sole sponsorship of a three-episode podcast mini-series.
Where we are
We're based in Calgary, Alberta, and cover the city and the surrounding southern Alberta region — the Beltline, Inglewood, Bowness, the Bow River pathways, and out to Okotoks and the foothills.
Our office is at 1055 11 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2R 1G8. Mail and courier deliveries reach us there, though most placement bookings are handled entirely by email and phone.

A short glossary
- Filing
- The act of publishing a dispatch — a listing, an article or an episode — with its dateline.
- Dateline
- The city and number marking where and in what order a dispatch was filed.
- Wire log
- Our running list of published episodes and articles, kept in the order they went out.
- Host-read segment
- A portion of an episode where the host speaks about a sponsor in their own words, rather than a pre-written ad.
Scheduling and lead times
Listings can usually go live within a few business days of your materials arriving. Explainer articles need about three weeks from an agreed brief, to allow time for drafting and your review. Audio sponsorships are best booked at least a month before the quarter you want to run in, since only one sponsor is placed per series.

What we don't do
We don't cover provincial or national news — other outlets already do that well. Our beat stays inside Calgary and southern Alberta.
We don't write news coverage to order for an advertiser. Sponsored articles are always labelled, and never presented as independent reporting.
We don't produce same-day placements. Even the 30-day listing needs a few business days to collect materials and format the page.
How we work
One brief, one contact
Each placement has a single point of contact so nothing gets lost between departments.
A review step, always
Sponsored copy and scripts are checked with you before anything runs.
Reachable by phone
A real number and published hours, not a contact form as the only route in.
